5 Reasons You'll LOVE it:

5 Reasons You'll HATE it:

The golf club.  Even if you do not golf, the existence of a large swath of green space in the middle of the neighbourhood is enjoyed by many residents off season.

Markland Wood may be one of the best suburban neighbourhoods in Toronto.  If you are looking for a “City” vibe – you will not find it here.

The strong sense of community. The Markland Woods Homeowners Association, which was formed  to “Create, Foster and Maintain the Community Spirit in Markland Wood” has been in existence since 1962. There are many community events that occur here making it a great place for families.

Are you looking for nightlife?  You will not find it here. Get acquainted with your neighbours as dinner parties are more likely to occur.

The winding streets and mature trees add to the pride of ownership that is evident here.  The streets, gardens and homes are well maintained.

Maintaining pride of ownership can be a lot of work.  If you are not the most handy person, you may have to consider hiring lawn/garden/pool care to keep your property maintained.

The mix of architecture. From 2 story to side and back splits, to much larger, sprawling homes overlooking the golf course – there are so many different styles of homes here.  Markland also has quite a few rental apartments as well as townhouses and condominiums. Great for families as well as people downsizing.

Markland Wood is one of the most coveted neighbourhoods in Etobicoke.  The sale prices of the homes here demonstrate that.  You can expect to pay more here than in other near by areas.

Amenities and things to do – From the Neilson Park Creative Centre, to the numerous local church hosted events, to the multiple clubs and teams for kids there is no shortage of things to do in Markland.  Markland Wood Plaza and Burnhamthorpe Mall have al of the local amenities required -pharmacies, dentists, physicians, grocery, LCBO, fast food, post office and much more.

Like all neighbourhoods near the airport, you can expect to hear and see flight traffic, particularly on windy days. Most residents do not even hear or notice the flights, but you should be aware if considering this area.

Home Styles In Markland Wood

Markland was established in the 1960’s and the style of the homes is in keeping with the time.  Bungalows and splits are common here. Spacious 2 story homes are also popular in the neighbourhood. There are many interesting custom built homes throughout the neighbourhood that can only be described as stunning.

Similar to many Etobicoke neighbourhoods that were established int he 1960’s, bungalows and ranch bungalows are common here.  The properties are deceivingly large so that what appears as a bungalow from street view is more often a spacious back split that is generous in both layout and back yard.  Look for ranch bungalows here, the lots afford the space and they are a luxury.

Side and Back Splits

The traditional side split and back split styles are common.  However, the builder who constructed the neighbourhood in the 1960’s employed a different model of sidesplit than what is commonly seen in nearby neighbourhoods.  The splits here are spacious.

Two Story Homes

The 2 story homes in Markland also vary in size and style.  4 and 5 bedroom homes are common, with the latter often having additional family room space off of the kitchen on the main floor.

The schools in Markland are very popular, both Toronto District School Board and Toronto Catholic District School Board.

This is an english and french Immersion public school for grades JK-5.https://schoolweb.tdsb.on.ca/millwood/

Bloordale Middle School is for students grade 6-8.
